Start with driving to the small town of Mae Wang. Along the way, we will stop at a local market to buy some ingredients for lunch. Continue to the countryside and drive into the mountains. After arrival, you will meet a family of the Karen ethnic minority, who will welcome you in the traditional Karen way. Then, embark on a village walk with local guide, who will show you around the village, teach you some words in Karen language, and introduce you to traditional weaving and textiles.Then, it is time for culinary experience. Cooking is done on a wood fire with a wok, a deep round-bottomed cooking pot. You can learn how to prepare a delicious meal on a wood fire in a kitchen that looks very different from what you are used to at home. After lunch, it is time for tea and relaxation before start a trek back to the main road. Enjoy bamboo rafting on the Wang River before we drive back to Chiang Mai. Board your raft and enjoy the flow of the river. Before roads were sealed the bamboo raft was an important means of transportation. Though is only done for tourists nowadays, it still is a great experience.
